Baby clothing is weird. It's made of weird lots of fabric, it shrinks at rates unpredictable, and really cool footed jammies can be given another six months of life by (heresy!) cutting off the feet.

Socks are good for outside trips once it gets chilly. Shoes? One elderly woman complimented me on refusing to shoe Mariel as a baby, stating firmly and with great conviction "Feet Should Be Free."

I didn't use nailclippers on my kids until they were about a year old and could help. I just gently bit their tiny nails short while they nursed.
