I didn't know Kim Stanley Robinson was in Davis!

Although I never finished the Mars trilogy....just too dry for me.

I admit, I skimmed when it got too dry. Kind of like Les Miserables.

I listened to that one as an audiobook. Hmmm, maybe I should see if Audible has the Mars books...
I've found that I can get through a lot as audio that I would bog down in reading.

I've seen him a handful of times at Sudwerk. He likes his beer and brats, I guess.

[livejournal.com profile] koyote realized after seeing him on the back of one of his books that he talked to him on occasion when he ([livejournal.com profile] koyote, that is) was doing the demo kitchen at the co-op.

Orson Scott Card is my favorite kind of ultra conservative - he has his beliefs, voices them, believes in them and stands by them. He thinks his beliefs should be more common.

He also doesn't think they should be forced on people, he doesn't work them into everything he does, and he has a good amount of respect for people with radically different ideas.

He's actually a pretty good example of somebody I can respect and disagree with.

I interviewed him a couple times when I did my science fiction radio show... I asked him about Alvin Maker, the Seventh Son (with all the pagan imagery) and how it reconciled with his Mormon beliefs. He was very well spoken. Neat guy.
