Adrenaline in the morning
I told Leif last night that, if he stayed up late enough, I would take him out to see the eclipse. Of course he didn't (the peak was 3AM here), but at about 4:00, while I was nursing Beeb, he got up and ran out of the bedroom.
I followed a minute or two later when Beeb let me up and couldn't find him! I looked out back and out front and he wasn't there! So I went to go grab my shoes to go do a better look, but then found him over by
silkensteel's room, where he was looking for either her or Debbie, who had told him about the eclipse originally.
(For those who aren't aware, Leif went wander/sleepwalking/something in the middle of the night and was picked up by the police when he was 2, so this type of thing freaks me out a little).
So once we got that sorted out, I took him out of the house to see. I couldn't see the moon at first, so I showed him Orion (first sighting of the year!) Instead. On our way back into the house, we saw the moon over the house, still largely eclipsed.
And now I'm all wide awake, though Leif quickly fell back asleep.
I went back out a few minutes ago to look again, and it's even neater now, with a chunk of exceptionally bright moon shining out of the penumbra.

I did see a few meteors though.
