(no subject)

The appointment with the new doctor went fine. Baby is measuring essentially on-track, is head-down, and has a heartbeat around 150 (same as usual). My blood pressure is fine, and she didn't notice any other problems.

I still wish I could go back to Davis to actually have the baby, but that really isn't practical.

Now we have to decide between the hospital 6 blocks away from the new apartment or the one 20 minutes away. The one 20 minutes away is the doctor's preferred hospital, and apparently more likely to have private recovery rooms. We've also already had one questionable experience with the close hospital.

Baby is really getting quite uncomfortably high inside my rib cage. Hopefully she'll drop soon.

In a few hours, we'll officially be moved out of corporate housing and into the new apartment. I'll be sending out an email with our new contact info once phone service is working there. Leave a comment (with your email address, if I don't have it already) if you need it and aren't a member of my immediate family.

Hmmm...

Do the women in your family tend to have longer labor periods? If so, the extra 20 minutes to get to a more preferable hospital may be not be of the essence.

Riding high, eh? that's a good sign you're having a boy. It's actually a fairly trustworthy gender-detection method, I don't know why, but it is rarely wrong. You have my email, right? Get me your contact info, please, so we can do lunch :)

Most first labors take a long time. As long as you go in when the contractions are between 10 and 5 minutes you should have plenty of time to get to the hospital 20 minutes away.

Please send me e-mail about which cat food you had the boys on. We would have to go all the way to Raleigh to get the Innova lite and they threw up all the Nutro lite. Trying Iams now.

arson at livejournal.com if you don't mind.

As far as labor, [livejournal.com profile] dandelion_diva had just under 24 hours of labor. Sam was already 3 weeks late, and they decided to induce. Several hours in, [livejournal.com profile] dandelion_diva opted for something to take the edge off the pain. That only made her hallucinate slightly :) Finally opted for the epidural. She slept for quite some time and delivered Sam at 7:39am the next day.

Anyway, the moral is that it might take longer than you expect :)
