Today I was waiting at the bus stop with Leif, and a lady asked, "Isn't he cold?"

He's wearing long pants, a long sleeved shirt, and socks. He's inside a canvas carrier that covers his whole torso and holds him up against my body. It's 60 degrees out.

Am I wearing a sign around my neck saying I'm utterly incompetent of caring for my child or something? Silly people.

...she was looking for a hat - since that's where most body heat is lost. Or maybe she just wanted to start a conversation - some people are not as adept at that as others.

I think lots of people think babies should be warmer, warmer, warmer. I've seen some pretty red-faced babies, and I've seen babies piled under blankets, with whole crib quilts over their entire bodies and faces, in strollers.

You know whether he was cold, he was right there next to you.

No kidding. I had my son in mid September in Tucson, Arizona. Most days it was in the 90s if not the 100s. People would ask me if he shouldn't be in a sweater or something. !?!?
