My last post was rather overly negative.

So far, I really like living on a boat. Occasionally, when I'm doing dishes outside late at night or something, I'll wish we were just living nice normal lives in a nice normal house. But really, that's a problem with our boat specifically, and will be fixed, as are most of the things I currently find annoying.

It's just harder to pinpoint the good parts.

Leif has been a major grumpybutt today, which is really unusual for him. He cried off and on through most of the afternoon, and we never did manage to figure out exactly what was wrong. Probably mainly tiredness - he usually wakes up on his own in the morning, but today I woke him up as my grandparents were coming over for breakfast, plus he only took perhaps an hour nap in the afternoon. He's also teething a bit. Poor guy.

I think we do well on a boat in general.

I have 3 main complaints, which are primarily related to marina del rey, not being a yachtie

1: this marina is *restrictive* on boat work. I should have to look around for a rental space to pull out an 8 foot dinghy and paint the bottom!

2: the insecurity of being a transient. We simply aren't yet in a permanent mooring or slip, and that makes the rest of life hard to get on with.

3: marina del rey is attempting to slowly become the San Diego Yacht Club. Meaning that rules are getting silly, and basins are being closed off one by one to get upgraded to $100,000 yacht and up things.

I find it odd that CA, with all its wonderful coastal geopgrahpy, is so limiting in boating.
