The thing that always gets me about Davis is that, as the day progresses, it just keeps getting hotter.

On the coast, 2PM is about the peak. After that, the ocean breeze comes in and things tend to start cooling off.

Here it just keeps getting hotter and hotter and hotter until the sun goes down. It feels unnatural. Seriously. It's not that I simply don't like it - it feels WRONG.

Yes, I know I post this about 8 times every summer.

That part of the state is a broiler. It's incredible just how hot it gets, and feels, at about 4pm, when you feel like it should be starting to cool down....

I think part of it is that everything - the ground, the asphalt, the buildings - have absorbed so much heat that they're just radiating the excess. Also the lack of an ocean breeze. Know what you mean.

Go up to your loft and spend about 15 minutes. Then come back down. Things feel *much* cooler. :)

i hear ya! In colorado where we used to live, we'd get a nice thunderboomer in the afternoon in the summertime. It was such a nice break from the heat. I miss summer thunderstorms. Davis summers just suck.

Somehow, I always think that summer here isn't all that bad.

Then summer hits, and I lie around going "I'm melting, I'm melting!" all day.

By the way, I'm sorry for not getting back to you. It's totally 100% not your fault. I'm just rather useless lately.
