I think Leif may be dropping his afternoon nap. Lately, if he takes one, he's awake and frantic until after 11, and he often doesn't sleep terribly soundly when he does take one. He didn't get more than about 10 minutes of a nap today. Hopefully he'll go to sleep by 9 or so.

I'm so not ready for that, but I guess if he starts getting to bed consistently early, it will help make up for it.

We think he's going through a big development spurt right now. He's been sick a lot lately, and that seems to happen when he's growing - he gets a fever, and comes out of it doing all sorts of new stuff. He's also being very fussy in general. Such fun.

ETA: He fell asleep at 8:00 :)

All four of mine started going to bed at a reasonable hour and sleeping completely through (about 12 hours, on average) once they stopped taking afternoon naps. In fact, for several of them, the first time they skipped the nap was the first time they slept completely through the night.

Is he a little young to stop napping? I thought they didn't drop naps until age 3 or so...
That's sad that he's all feverish :( Actually, my little boy is having some sleep issues recently. He's been going to bed around midnight to 1 all week, and it has been a struggle to get him down for a nap. But he's also learning lots of new words, so I think that his little mind is in a whirl these days. I think he's learned 3 new words this week alone!
Either that, or the Katrina disaster had created "a disturbance in the force", and is affecting us all...
