Mar. 23rd, 2007 10:36 pmThis evening feels so lovely. I wish the weather would just stay like this all summer. Except I seem to be a bit sunburned. Oh well.
I got more done than normal today.
Got the room clean, which it desperately needed. Not a small job with the two kids alternately distracting me. I think we need to declutter Leif's toys again. And books. It's hard to get rid of books, but I think we'd actually be doing better with the regular reading if he only had like a quarter shelf full of books that we both enjoyed, rather than a shelf so full that it's hard to find the books we like.
I think perhaps we should do a garage sale soon.
Did three loads of laundry - one I actually hung on the line to dry, and two loads have been put away. The last is in the dryer. Laundry has been a real pain lately. The washing itself is fine, but something about folding it and putting it away feels like total drudgery. I have to run the wash through an extra rinse cycle to make sure all the detergent is out because of
koyote's sensitivities, and I often end up running it through too many times because I can't remember if I already did it or not. So today I came up with a trick to ensure the clothing gets rinsed the proper number of times - do the rinse cycle as permanent press instead of normal, so it's visually obvious which cycle I'm on. Yay!
I should be line drying more, but I have to get it hanging up early enough in the day that it has time to dry, and there isn't really enough line space for more than one load. So ideally I should be able to hang pretty much everything, except it seems like I'm doing three loads a day every day these days. Doesn't really make sense, because I have no idea how we're going through that much laundry. Oh well.
Took some diapers back to the store to exchange for a larger size. Astrid fits stuff oddly. She wears size Large FuzziBunz, even though they're not supposed to fit until 20lbs and she's only about 16. The disposables we had were supposed to fit 12-18lbs or something, and she can still fit them, but they're getting a bit tight, and I wasn't sure she'd make it all the way through the unopened bag (we still have most of a bag left from the vacation, and I'm not using them all that frequently).
We stopped at the park on the way home, where I met a nice mom I should probably try to get to know better.
Then class. The room we usually use is being resurfaced, so we're doing weapons outdoors. It was nice having a different teacher for the weapons, as they emphasize different things. Plus I got a review of the 8 count kata, which means maybe I'll at least be able to remember the first 7 counts well enough to not get yelled at. Someone took a picture of us - I think he was from DavisWiki.
The last load of laundry is done, except that it's lying on the floor because the lights are out because Leif fell asleep at 9. I should go to sleep, too. The trip threw his sleep off, and he's been waking up at 6:30.
Our garden has produced peas. Leif likes them enough that I have to stop him from picking them so they have a chance to grow. That made me feel weird - stopping a kid from eating more veggies.
