What a day.

Last night was baaaad. Beeb has been extra fussy and waking up crying frequently, and l wasn't doing too well myself, between stomach troubles and too much caffeine.

We had to get up early in the morning to go to a tour of the UCD student farm with the homeschooling group. We almost didn't go - Leif was horribly whiny and crying in the hollow sounding way he does when he's sick, everything was generally going really slow, and we're leaving early tomorrow to go visit the grandparents in Southern California and have a lot to do.

But I managed to get us all dressed and throw some food in a bag and we made it. We were the first there, in fact. Apparently other homeschoolers do no better at early activities than we do.

Leif had much fun. It was a good tour - technically for grades K-3, but they said younger kids had done fine in the past so I decided to give it a shot. And it was fine. He saw chickens and worms and picked berries and pulled carrots. The highlight for me was the kiwi tree (vine? Bush?). I'd always pictured them growing on a tree like a plum or apricot, but these were on vine-like things on an arbor, like grapes. They were fuzzy and bright green.

After that, we went to the park where we were meeting up with my cousin, [livejournal.com profile] oatmeal. There was some sort of mom group there (may have even been LLL) with several moms I recognized, including Sarah with a baby whose due date was one day after Astrid's.

I got a peek in Astrid's mouth, and discovered the probable reason for her horrid night - she has joined the ranks of the toothed!

[livejournal.com profile] oatmeal showed up and was charmed by Miss Toothy. We hung out at the park for a while, then went home and hung out some more. It was a good visit. We haven't seen eachother since August 2002.

Then he had to go see other Davisites and I had to go get my TB test read. It was negative, though the nurse wasn't sure and had to get another nurse to double check.

I dropped off the results at the birthing center, where I haven't been since Beeb was born. The nurse who is always there was there, which was somewhat amusing.

Now I have to figure out what to bring for a 2 night trip (1 night camping) with long car rides. I got some books on cd from the library to stick on the ipod. Need to go get a pack of sposies because cloth seems like a pain to manage on this trip, especially since we probably won't do laundry. Hopefully the kiddos will get to sleep early so I can too, since I'm beat and have to get up at like 4AM. Whee!
