Feb. 20th, 2008 08:57 pmQuite the day today.
In the morning, I cleaned. We'd gotten some stuff out of storage, and
koyote inherited a PowerMac G4, and we simply didn't have room for everything. But somehow, it ended up reasonably organized.
We went to the library. I noticed on the way in that there was a "Meet Clifford" event on February 20th, and I made a note to myself that I should tell
koyote to bring the kids. Later our favorite librarian came by and asked if she could borrow a hairtye because she was going to be in the Clifford costume, and it struck me (as I'm sure it's already struck all of you) that today was the 20th, so we stuck around the library for a while for that.
Leif was pretty thrilled with Clifford, and even more thrilled because he won the raffle. They were raffling nice hardcover copies of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator. Two kids who weren't him won, and he was very dissapointed (but very good about it) but one was a toddler whose mom didn't have a great grasp of English, so she gave it back and they drew another person, and that was Leif!
I've been avoiding Great Glass Elevator because the Vermicious Knids still freak me out and I'm not sure if Leif is ready for them, but I guess we'll have to read it now.
We went to the park for a while (must take advantage of the nice weather while we have it). After returning home, I took Astrid for her semi-regular evening stroller ride, and found two geocaches, my first in a while (I found some last spring with
theducks and some others at the Pirate Festival, but didn't get around to logging them then). A friend gave a talk about Geocaching at the Linux User Group meeting the other day, and motivated me to finally stick batteries back in the thing and do something. I have a good (ie. isn't a film canister, is relatively easy to find, has toys) nearby one to take Leif to for his first find next time class and weather allow.
And then the eclipse ended up being visible after all. We were worried it would be blocked by clouds, but they held off. Beautiful. Leif was pretty excited about that, too.
Now, homework time. Hopefully my luck will continue and I'll be able to get it done!
