For those wondering about my overly cryptic post yesterday...

Dr. Price was one of my high school biology teachers. Long story short, he seems to have a talent for inappropriate discouragement, amongst other shortcomings. And he inappropriately discouraged me in biology-related areas.

I now have a 97% in Physiology, after a test where nearly half the class failed.

To be totally fair to him, I may have done well at least partially due to his teaching, and I had him as a teacher during my teenage ennui "I'm too depressed to do homework" stage, which couldn't have made me easy to work with.

But he can still bite me.

97% in Physiology is darn good no matter who the prof is! Well done! I recently completed an Anatomy and Physiology course as well. I was proud of my own accomplishments in the class.

Good on you for not letting the discouragement of good ol' Doc Price stop you from succeeding!

i'm fully convinced he just dislikes smart teenage girls. He was a jerk to me, too, though it was chemistry and physics that he tried to discourage me from.

When I went to college I said I wanted to be any science major EXCEPT biology, due in large part to Mr. (as he will remain to me) Price. After a while of deprogramming I ended up with a Biochem and Molecular Biology degree and working in Research Biology for 8 years.

I think I had him one of his first years (when he was Daddy Warbucks in the spring musical - did you catch that one?) and my friend and I SO wanted to get him fired (to the point of considering the merits of sexual entrapment). By the last year that I had him (AP Chem) we had reached an uneasy peace. As long as I got >95% on exams I could read whatever I wanted during class (or write letters to my boyfriend) and he would leave me alone.

I take it his style didn't get any less arrogant as the years progressed.

I was Hooverville chorus (I did The King and I through L'il Abner, which I think was 1996).

The less-than-seriousness in the "Dr." does not come across onscreen.

I find these responses very validating and interesting.

I skipped chemistry rather than take it with him.

He's no longer listed on the staff directory - I'm curious what happened.
