Random pregnancy thoughts

You know you're pregnant when you want yogurt, and get upset at the idea of having ice cream as an alternative, since there is no yogurt in the house.

In addition to bathing suits with horizontal stripes, you have to wonder what maternity clothes designers were thinking when they decided that overalls would be a good idea for pregnant women. They're way too complicated to take on and off when you have to pee every 30 seconds.

Someone I know from a mailing list just found out she's pregnant with twins! I'm so happy for her, I started crying when I found out. She and her husband have been trying for years, and gone through fertility treatments and everything. But they both had fertility problems, and had given up on having a kid of their own quite some time ago. They were going to submit their application for adoption this month.

I felt bad announcing that I was pregnant to this list, because she'd tried so hard and hadn't been able to, and here I am - a young, unmarried person, getting pregnant without even trying.

I'm really happy for her.

Would it be bad if I said that part of the reason I'm so happy is that she's a wonderful person, and the world could use more people with her genes?

My belly is currently doing the Alien thing, strong enough that you can see it through my clothing. This looks really bizarre. So far, baby has been kind enough to limit the most extreme Alien imitations to the privacy of our own home. This is very nice of her. I would feel weird if I were in a meeting at work and my belly started jumping all over the place of its own volition.

I got overalls today, despite their impracticality. Overalls and a sling. I don't like how the overalls look, but koyote does, so I guess they'll do. The sling is a NoJo, which is much reviled, primarily because it's made to fit people about 6' tall, and doesn't work well for anyone else. That means that, in theory, it should work well for me.

I still want more slings of different types, because different types work for different people, and having more than one of anything that baby can throw up on is probably a good idea.

One of the maternity shirts my mom gave me is long and black, with 3/4 length sleeves. It's my favorite shirt right now, but what do you want to bet the weather turns seasonal (and therefor too hot) before I get a chance to wear it again? I've only had a chance to wear it twice.

I do hope that the weather turns seasonal, though. If it can stay that way for at least a week or two, I'll be able to go swimming before we move.

We saw X-Men 2 today. Is good. Not the most profound movie ever or anything, but I really love the story. Kinda like Buffy.

Or perhaps by "story" I really mean "hot people".

Was the introduction purposefully reminiscent of Star Trek: TNG, or is it just me?

Friendster is silly. It's like the old sixdegrees.com - essentially pointless, but vaguely entertaining for brief periods of time. I'm registered as cat@ansible.org if anyone of you all are already on there. Or, if you're not, the beta code is "coke". Or at least it used to be.

I realize that this now has next to nothing to do with pregnancy, despite the subject, so I should stop now.

I have always wondered that myself, despite never having been pregnant. It just seems highly impractical.

Last time my sister was pregnant, someone bought her a maternity suit of armor. Not as impractical as overalls I suppose, but I thought the broadsword was a nice accessory and well worth any inconvenience.
