I'm not surprised - the flavor's pretty, um, distinctive and kids commonly dislike it. I hated seeded rye too, and am not partial to caraway even today. Caraway seed tea or infusion doesn't have that nasty sharp quality, and is good for tummy gas.
Charnushka seeds (often called Black Caraway, Nigella sativa - shaped more like sesame seeds but are not black sesame) are NOT caraway seeds and taste nothing like them. They have a more earthy, smoky flavor, and while I despised caraway seeds in bread I used to go out of my way to pick out the charnushka seeds and eat them first.
I have a buttload of 'em, let me know if you want to try those. :)
I saw you on MDC and added you. I was told last week that it's polite to tell people when you add them, so in an attempt to be less rude, here I am. :-)
oh look, an infodump. :)
