I thought for years that I hated rye bread.

I have just discovered that it is not the rye that I hate, but the carroway seeds.

oh look, an infodump. :)

I'm not surprised - the flavor's pretty, um, distinctive and kids commonly dislike it. I hated seeded rye too, and am not partial to caraway even today. Caraway seed tea or infusion doesn't have that nasty sharp quality, and is good for tummy gas.

Charnushka seeds (often called Black Caraway, Nigella sativa - shaped more like sesame seeds but are not black sesame) are NOT caraway seeds and taste nothing like them. They have a more earthy, smoky flavor, and while I despised caraway seeds in bread I used to go out of my way to pick out the charnushka seeds and eat them first.

I have a buttload of 'em, let me know if you want to try those. :)

That's about how I feel when it comes to rye bread. Still not crazy about rye toast though.

Yeah, I have never understood putting caraway in bread. Frankly, used like that, it tastes nasty.

I saw you on MDC and added you. I was told last week that it's polite to tell people when you add them, so in an attempt to be less rude, here I am. :-)

:) I don't normally tell people myself because I feel weird about it. Not that I feel weird when people tell me, though. I've added you back!
