Oct. 3rd, 2001 11:55 pmrainy/sleet just checked in on IRC. We thoroughly bitched him out for not checking in sooner.
Apparently he was busy with work (as expected), moving, and was unable to check his email.
:)
The other day, I (finally) wrote a halfassed little script to check to see if the samba server is accepting connections, and restart smbd if it isn't. It seems to work. Hurray, one less problem to worry about. It's a total hack solution, but should do until we can do something real about it. Like move to a reasonable operating system (
koyote, don't dare say anything. I know your opinion perfectly well :).
They're doing apartment inspections tomorrow. Something about needing to assess the budget needs for the next year. I'm a bit concerned that they're going to bitch about the cat-proofed porch, the hacked up door frame (had to remove part of it in order to get my desk into the room. Not anything that can't be covered up with a little paint - we just didn't anticipate having to do anything about it until I moved out and therefor hadn't taken care of it yet), or something. Going to try to stay home from work until they're finished (mainly because I don't want to have to confine the cats to one room for the whole day).
On the good side, maybe this means they'll get around to fixing some of the stuff that was reported when I moved in.
Had a math test today. I think I did pretty well, considering that most of this chapter is stuff I'm very good at. I was very lucky - in class on Monday, she announced that the test would only be on chapter 5, and we'd only have to turn in the homework from chapter 5. Had this not been the case, I would have been doing math for about 48 hours straight, as I'd done very little of the work for chapter 3 and 4.
I really need to force myself into better study habits. I have to pass this class (if I don't, I'm switching back to a major that doesn't require math, strictly to avoid taking this bonehead class AGAIN). And it would really be better for my GPA if I did well in it, since I forgot to switch it to pass/no pass. I'm not all that worried about passing it - I don't think I've screwed up enough for that. But anything less than an A will bring down my GPA.
If you noticed that this entry is growing every few hours, it isn't your imagination. I keep thinking of things to add, and don't want to start a whole new entry. But, as I really need to get to sleep, I suspect that this will be the last edit.
