Oct. 21st, 2003 09:59 pmNew pictures of Leif are up at http://www.ansible.org/~jess/leif/! Lots of pictures of the Amazing Standing Baby!
I forgot to mention that we got him weighed about 3 weeks ago. At that point, he weighed 14 lbs 1 oz.
In the past few days, he's discovered animals. Before, he was pretty indifferent to the cats. Now he watches them, and grabs their fur. Thankfully, they're very tolerant cats. Today we took him to the pet store, and he laughed at the puppies!
He also hated books until this week. Now he'll happily read through his book of silly baby faces several times in a row.
As a proper child-of-geeks, he's fascinated by stupid flash animation.
He's getting much better at grabbing toys.
It's getting difficult to take him out to eat. Previously, he happily sat in one of our laps and just peoplewatched. Now he wants what we're eating! He'll stare at the food, lean towards it, and cry if we won't give him any (nursing just isn't satisfactory!). If we have some avacado or something else baby-friendly, we'll give him a little taste, and he's usually happy with that, but if we're having curry there isn't a whole lot we can do!
I really didn't want to start him on solids this early, but it's looking like we'll have to. Hopefully we can hold him off with little tastes for a few more months.
The other day we tried some 12 month size clothing on him, and discovered his torso is so long they barely fit! Oops. We're having warm weather right now, so he's wearing all his 12 month size rompers so we can get at least a little use out of them!
He's going to be a lemurbaby for Halloween. We figured that was appropriate.
Leif has started laughing these past few weeks, but he's also started getting fussier, too. Especially when he's tired. I think his needs are getting more complex, and he's getting more frustrated with not being able to express himself. Of course, we're still saying "he's probably teething", but still no teeth!
