Jul. 9th, 2004 09:50 pmI realize I've been utterly negligent about updating this thing, even skipping Leif's first birthday. Sorry!
Leif turned one year old on June 29th! On that day, we were busy moving to California, where we'll be house-sitting for Leif's grandma for the next month.
We went down to Coronado for the 4th of July. Leif slept through most of the parade and the fireworks, but he enjoyed his first trip to the beach!
He's starting to walk, and can take about ten steps at a time before falling down. It seems like he still thinks of walking as a novelty rather than a form of transportation, but he's getting better constantly. He'll also walk long distances holding on to only one finger, which is great - it was awfully hard on the back when he was holding on to both!
If he's standing up holding on to something and you say "baby dance!" he'll stomp his feet, dance around, and giggle.
He's become a monkey, climbing on top of everything and occasionally getting into really precarious positions! He loves climbing up and down stairs.
He's starting to sign a lot. Opening and closing his fist seems to mean nurse, mommy, or "give me". He waves his hands up and down when he wants a bath (the actual sign is rubbing your fists up and down in front of your chest - close enough). He often pats his diaper and crawls to the bathroom either before or after he poops.
He sits on his butt and spins, which is terribly cute, though a bit rough on his pants.
He loves pushing around anything he can. Anything with wheels is especially fun, but he'll push chairs, buckets, or whatever else is a convenient height to push while standing.
He loves baths (now that the bathtub doesn't have a plug to pull!), his wading pool, and just about anything else related to water, including dumping it all over himself and anyone around him.
He's also starting to get a toddler temper, which is just a ton of fun!
Leif is currently sitting at my feet, playing "opening presents" - pulling toys out of a box of packing material.
