Feb. 13th, 2005 05:38 pmDue to a combination of procrastination and inconvenient office closures, I have jury duty tomorrow, even though I have multiple reasons to not go (providing childcare, breastfeeding, living in a different county).
As long as I don't actually get put on a case, this is just peachy. We're down in San Diego anyways, so it isn't a problem in that respect. I'm actually kind of looking forward to a day of sitting around reading all on my own, and it's something new and different.
I just need to avoid getting put on a trial one way or another, since we were planning on heading back to LA on Tuesday, and really need to do so, since
koyote has work he needs to do. California has a one day or one trial law, so if I make it through tomorrow, I'm free. However, given my luck with this so far, it wouldn't surprise me if I do get put on a trial.
I'm hoping that once I get there I can say, "Hey, I didn't get this letter until Thursday (which is technically true - I knew about it before then, but didn't actually physically get the letter till Thursday), and your office was closed on Friday, and I'm here today but I really can't stay any longer than this, let me go" and they'll let me go.
If not, I guess I'll have to go all La Leche League on them.
