ocelotWe have ducks.
We'd been talking about getting some for egg laying for a few months. Then someone posted on Freecycle offering up some ducklings that, from what I gather, they'd got for Easter and couldn't handle. So we got them.
5 are Pekin ducks (the big white kind), and the sixth appears to probably be a mallard. Pictures of ducky cuteness will be online once I get around to figuring out how to get the camera to work with this computer.
(I really wish people wouldn't get ducks for Easter. Especially not cute little fuzzy yellow ducklings. Fuzzy yellow ducklings grow into really big-ass ducks. We estimate these hatched April 1, and they're already about as big as typical wild ducks around here.)
We'll see how this works out. And we have to get Leif used to the idea that we'll probably have to cull out at least one duck to avoid male fighting.
Beeb is playing with the baby in the mirror, patting its hands and generally trying to figure out why it keeps doing the exact same thing she does. It's terribly cute.
