Well, at least we weren't quite in the middle of nowhere when the tire blew (major treads stripped off the rims blowout). About two miles outside the nearest town, 5 miles outside of the Manzanar Internment Camp, and 15 miles from the nearest town with a tire store.

Fun times.

I want to come back here when the kids are old enough to understand internment camps. Just driving past after driving through this desolate area is having an effect on me.

I hope you got back OK. I can imagine worse places to get a tire out than the Owens Valley, but not many...

We prefer to call it the scenic route.

We're fine - we're at mono lake now, and it looks like we're going to camp somewhere nearby for one more night.
