Davis is not an oven today. It's warm, but not unbearably hot, and overcast and a little humid. If it weren't California, I'd think we were in for a thunderstorm, but it is California so I doubt it.

I've been crabby and depressed and down on myself lately and wonder if I'm PMSing. I got my period back at 9 months with Leif. I wonder how much research has been done into what influences the return of menstruation postpartum?

Aikido yesterday was interesting, because we had a new student, so I got to be the student who did everything right and didn't get yelled at (much) and got to give the "you're doing fine, Sensei is just a hardass!" peptalk after class. I feel like I'm starting to get the hang of certain things, like how a circular motion and extension make a real difference, that I wasn't understanding before, even if I'm still weak on the implementation.

Newbies provide a nice measure of how far you've come when you feel you haven't learned anything.

Thunderstorms were forecast. We got a tiny one, but as I speak, radar shows it raining hard in isolated spots farther north, like Napa and Sonoma and Lake Counties.

It actually did rain here at about 1:30AM, long after I was asleep. But the forecast yesterday was 0% chance of precipitation, 10% today.

Of course, the forecast currently says it is raining right now, and it isn't doing that either.

Man, I wish it would rain here in NYC! It's a typical summer in the city - low 90s, humidity somewhere around 60-70%. Step outside for a moment, and feel your skin get slick.

I want rain!!!! (or to have California's weather!)
