Jul. 26th, 2007 09:02 pmI talked to
koyote, and he thinks I should take classes this semester regardless of whether I get the class I need or not. So I'm registered. History, psychology, nutrition, and organic chemistry.
Ochem should be interesting, as it's taught by someone I know in a social context, which could be interesting. And the number of "interesting"s in that sentence might help convey my dubiousness about whether this is actually a good idea.
For my own reference (subject to editing):
I really must talk to a counselor soon to get some advice on, for example, the GE transfer requirements. As far as I can tell, the nursing program at CSU cannot be completed in under 3 years, and is not technically a full-time program, leaving time when I need to take other classes, so it wouldn't make sense to try to take all the GE requirements ahead of time (in the 4 year plan on the Humboldt website, it includes GE classes during the nursing program). However, it also claims I can be denied admission if I don't complete them, so...um...whatever. (However, having gone over it again, it looks like that's maybe 1 course I need that I haven't already fulfilled or won't fulfill through the prerequisites.)
Classes I need for ASN programs:
English**
Human Development**
Cultural Anthropology**
Anatomy
Physiology
Microbiology
Psychology!-
Nutrition!-
Speech
Additional classes I need for BSN:
Chemistry*
Organic Chemistry-
Statistics!+
GE (some overlap with above):
A1: Speech
A2: English 1A**
A3: ?
B1:Chemistry*
B2:A/P/M
B3:Trig**
C1: (Women in Film hopefully qualifies)**
C2: Engl 27**
C3: English 42**
D1: History (2 classes)!-
D2: Anthropology, more**
E: Human Development, more**
* = completed at WCC
** = completed at SCC
! = taken at UCD, want to retake
+ = Humboldt has weird requirements
- = registered for fall 2007
So what that comes down to (if I'm counting right) is six classes I have no way to avoid taking, and 12 classes that I need to take if I want to skip the UCD transcript (somewhere in between if I want to skip the UCD transcript and not do CSU).
Ironically, I may be able to apply for the CSU programs sooner than the community college programs, as they allow in-progress courses when applying. In theory, the most sensible thing to do would be to get the cc requirements out of the way first, but it looks like it isn't going to work out that way due to scheduling.
