Aug. 22nd, 2007 08:05 amLast night I was cutting up bell peppers for salad. I looked at one of the rings, and mentioned to
silkensteel that they'd be really cute to fry an egg in. She agreed that sounded like a good idea, and we'd have to do that someday.
The next few slices I cut were so perfectly shaped that "someday" turned into "right now"

Unfortunately, when I offered it to Leif, he looked at them dubiously and asked, "Is that tomato?" (None of our family is crazy about tomato). I told him no, it was pepper, and he declared that he did not like pepper, and refused to eat them, even after I told him he could pop the egg part out.
So much for cute food encouraging kids to eat their veggies :)

Date: 2007-08-23 03:00 pm (UTC)I *love* this general idea, so now I'm going through veggies in my head, trying to think of something else that I can do this with. Tomatoes seem like a possibility. Winter squash would be great (cook the squash ring for awhile until soft and cooked through and then fill with eggs with cinnamon and vanilla, a la non-bread french toast). What else can be done as rings? Eggs and veggies are a wonderful combo with just about any vegetable.
