I'm listening to the Miss Saigon soundtrack for the first time in a while, and am discovering I now have next to no tolerance for whiny emo-boy Chris.

Y'know, I've always kinda had the same reaction. Love the show, don't really care all that much for Chris. There's also a moment toward the end with Ellen (when she confronts Chris after Kim comes to their hotel room) where she just gets on my last nerve.

I used to feel fairly neutral towards Chris. Didn't love him, didn't particularly dislike him. Now, I have an intellectual understanding that he's a nice guy caught in a "road to hell is paved with good intentions" type situation, but his emoness grates.

I feel bad for Ellen, but she has a type of jealousy and lack of empathy that I find hard to relate to.
