earthquake! :)
Aug. 10th, 2001 04:03 pmI felt the earthquake in Northern California today. I was sitting around in Subway reading Ender's Shadow before heading back to work, when the ground just sort of rolled under me. I looked around, and no one else seemed to have noticed anything. Checked the hanging lights - they were just barely swinging. I figured it might have been a train or something, but when I got back to work, I found out that it had indeed been an earthquake - 5.5 out in the Sierras (which was actually about what I'd estimated - a 5 or so either a ways east or west of us - since it felt about the same as the Napa quake).
Since then, I've been mostly useless at work. Earthquakes do that to me. I get fascinated looking for information about them and so on.
I'm currently trying to get the lj client installed, since I switched computers yesterday. I think I may need to go and install openssl/ssh from source. Not a huge deal - that's generally considered a good idea, anyways.
The office stinks. Every so often a chemical smell will float through. Right now it's kind of a lysol/bug spray smell. I wonder how much time it's taking off my life?
