Jan. 4th, 2008 07:15 pmWe still have no power, along with 350,000 other people in the area.
We went out to the store (they had generators). Everyone seemed to be really enjoying the drama, smiling and waving at passing cars as they cleaned up their yards.
At the store, it was obvious from people's carts who had power and who didn't. Stocking up on milk and ice cream? Probably power. Bottled water and firewood? Probably not.
We still have gas, so we still have heat, stove, and hot water. Yay! We also have lots of candles, propane lanterns, and so on.
One ETA we've heard for power returning was as early as 7pm, which we're past now. The other was Tuesday.
Our back fence (which was hit by a car a year ago and never properly repaired) is down, and one window broken.
Leif is having the hardest time of it. He's upset that he can't watch a movie.
From the general silence of localish people on my friends list, I'm guessing others of you are powerless, too. I hope you're doing well.

Date: 2008-01-05 03:01 pm (UTC)A thick stick, about a foot long, with four or five pinecones still firmly attached, one pinecone was mashed. Looks like it hit the glass and bounced off, half the glass popped out, the other half popped in. I did eventually find a spear of glass inside, under the window.
