Jul. 10th, 2008 01:41 pmTwo things in Microbiology made me laugh, and everyone else thought I was crazy.
1. Caffeine is chemically similar enough to the nucleotide adenine to be incorporated into our DNA.
Please tell me I'm not the only person in the world who finds this hilarious, if a somewhat alarming.
2. Our textbook promotes Flying Spaghetti Monsterism.

The Flying Spaghetti Monster touches even bacteria with his noodly appendage!
And his noodly appendage is called the sex pilus!
I should complain to the publishers about this egregious mixing of scientific education and religion.
