Oct. 31st, 2006 09:34 pmHalloween is over! Yay!
(I like Halloween. I dislike Leif's drama over it.)
This morning I had a big internal debate over whether to go to library storytime or make a notebook costume, but Leif decided once again that he neither wanted to go to the library nor have anything to do with Halloween beyond watching the Dora Halloween movie. No notebook costume, no dinosaur costume, no candy - none of it.
So I gave up, and we went off to get the last bits for Astrid's costume - a marker to blacken a long-sleeved onsie to go under the tie dyed one we'd been given, some pipe cleaners for antennae, and hopefully a hat for Leif (I had a Devious Plan).
I dressed Astrid in her costume and Leif in a plaid shirt, overalls, and striped socks, put the hat on his head, and we took off "for the park". I asked Leif a few times if he wanted to trick-or-treat, and he always said he just wanted to go to the playground.
We stopped downtown (they have daytime trick-or-treating at a bunch of the businesses) "just for a minute", got a bag, and oh look - that lady is in a bee costume just like Astrid! And she's handing out candy! Do you want some?
After the first few stores he got into it and kept asking for more treats for the next few hours.
I'm glad that, after all the drama, he decided to enjoy it.

Trick-or-Treating

Astrid chewed on her sleeve and dyed her mouth black (the pen was non-toxic!). It about gave me a heart attack when I first noticed, and someone asked me if it was gentian violet (no - that's *bright* purple). The pictures don't show it well, but I love the silly faces.

Leif shows off the pumpkin he designed

Leif holding a bunny at the pumpkin patch yesterday (please ignore the fact that he's wearing large portions of the same outfit two days in a row. I didn't realize I'd need a stealth costume.)

More here, in case this wasn't enough already.
Sorry. I know that's more of a photo-deluge than usual, but I had a backlog :)
I weighed Astrid while we were downtown - she's 8lbs 4oz, which means she's gained more than 2 lbs in four weeks (her weight at her one week appointment was 6lbs 2 oz). Yay! I can stop worrying that she's spitting up an unhealthy amount!
I may still cut dairy to see if it helps (um, after all the Halloween chocolate is gone, anyways). She seems awfully gassy, uncomfortable, and spitty most of the time that she isn't nursing or asleep.
We got a lot of comments today about the cute little baby boy and the adorable farmer girl. We just can't win.
