ocelotI have a confession to make.
I didn't like Lord of the Rings.
I didn't actively dislike it. It just didn't intrigue me all that much.
It's possible that I would have enjoyed it more had I read the books first. As it was, too many aspects are associated in my mind with awful fourth-rate Tolkien derived fantasy, MUDs, and the like. This led to much mental MST3K-ing.
It may also have just been my mood - I was laughing at all the other previews, except for the one where I was supposed to laugh, which was just annoying (Austin Powers 3).
I will probably read the books at some point, just to see if I can tolerate them any better. Koyote suggests that knowing more of the backstory may make the plot more interesting.
Hopefully in the books, all the characters aren't irritating twits.
On the way home, approximatly 3/4 of the Sacramento police force was sitting around with their lights flashing in an open area just off of the freeway. I'm curious as to what was happening.
