(no subject)

It's strange, and sometimes vaguely frightening, how strongly a song can be tied to a certain place/time. The song I'm currently listening to has a cold, slightly depressed feeling attached to it that makes me feel like I'm sitting in the house I lived in two years ago in the middle of winter (Not that the song itself is depressing - rather the opposite, in fact). It doesn't just make me remember it - it makes me feel like I'm actually there. I can see my room and the overcast sky out the window, feel my bed under me, and smell/feel the slight stuffiness of the room, as it's been too cold to open the window for a while now.

That was a very painful year. I'm not sure why I'm feeling nostalgic about it, but the memory really isn't an unpleasant one.

I like this CD. I think I will get another by them.

I was listening to the Green World CD by Dar Williams which I purchased two years ago when I was working as a nanny and I swear to you every physical sense took me back to that fall. I mean even the way the air smelled changed and the tension in my shoulders, my mood...

I love that song. It makes me feel exhultant. Not sad, though somewhat nostalgic I guess.

I suppose you heard that Toad is getting back together to do some shows with Counting Crows. I may drive to San Fran to see them.

I've seen Toad ten times live, and met them twice.

No, it isn't a sad song. I think the feelings associated with it have more to do with where I was in life at the time I first heard it than the song itself.

While I'm in love with this CD, I've never really followed them, so I didn't know they were getting back together. When's the SF concert? I'm in the general area and would consider going to that.

ALL their CDs are good...sorry to say. Because they cost money and are worth owning.

The San Fran concerts are five days in December. ARound the 16 to 22nd, or something like that. I am probably heading down with a friend, so we should hook up if you are attending.

That's a great icon you have there... mind if I steal it? I'm using ocelot pictures pretty exclusivly for my journal these days - you're welcome to steal some of mine in return if you'd like. We don't have any LJ friends in common, so I doubt anyone would notice.

I ran into you through a comment on clairade's journal, so I imagine we do have some friends-of-friends in common...

Go for it. This is just part of a random picture I got off the web somewhere, so I have no particular attachment to it :)

I read a lot of journals on other people's friends pages, so I see a lot more people than are actually on my friends list.
