I ripped a bunch of my brother's Weezer CDs over Thanksgiving, and am currently listening to Buddy Holly and The Sweater Song. I feel like I'm in 9th grade, sitting on the now non-existant patio watching the volleyball players.

I'm also copying a bunch of my CDs, which [livejournal.com profile] koyote will hate, as I grabbed the soundtrack section. Especially as it includes such things as Godspell, which I love despite being a borderline heathen.

Do not fear, [livejournal.com profile] livyanne. [livejournal.com profile] lemurbaby is, for the next seven months, going to be exposed to my taste in music much more than [livejournal.com profile] koyote's. She/he will have plenty of exposure to soundtracks, including Buffy.

School is out until January 21st, work until January 6. I am happy. I still have some work to do in one class, but with essentially no deadline at this point, so no pressure.

I think my playlist needs rearranging. Dar Williams sandwiched between two eminem songs is just a bit too much of a contrast.

If this entry does not draw at least one negative comment about my taste in music, I will be shocked.

Several years ago, an ex-boyfriend made me an MP3 CD shortly after we broke up (we were still on pretty good terms). It scared me at the time - he'd included the full miscellaneous directory, which included a number of songs like "I Touch Myself", without checking to see what was in it. I assumed it was intentional. We all had a good laugh about it.

It went missing for a long time, but I just found it hiding in a Sixpence None The Richer case. I suspect I stuck it there for safekeeping and then forgot about it. Now I can listen to 80's happiness!

Hee! Weezer! Hours, and hours, and hours of Weezer memories.

Won't comment on your Eminem taste and I will tell you why. I was in the car with Katie and Pat who, despite being the whitest couple since Ron and Nancy, love rap. Eminem comes on and they ask me my opinions on him and I feed them the feminist line about hating women. Then Pat points something out to me that I missed because, well, I don't listen to Eminem. He doesn't hate women. He hates one particular woman, and with good cause. I can buy that. Alanis gets a bad rap about being a man-hater. But she doesn't, she has a fair share of really beautiful love songs, she just has some bitterness towards ex-boyfriends. And that, my dears, is totally kosher. As is bitterness towards one's mother.

Can I just tell you I love that you love Dar. I have everything but her EPs CD. If you want me to burn you a copy of one of her albums, let me know. I actually just finished ripping ALL my CDs (10 gigs worth) so if there is anything you are looking for, email me and I will burn it if I have it. :)

Have you started reading to [livejournal.com profile] lemurbaby yet?

I don't like all of eminem's music, but some of it is good, and some is really hysterically funny if you actually listen to the lyrics.

Oddly enough, I was introduced to him by a gay friend. He was listening to it in his car, and when I expressed surprise, he sent me some MP3s and told me to actually listen to the lyrics. This is probably the only reason I gave it half a chance.

I wouldn't say he only hates one woman. Perhaps not women in general, but his wife (girlfriend? Ex-wife? I can't remember) has been a target as well. There's at least one song of his that I wouldn't choose to listen to again.

I'm not reading out loud yet. I hate reading aloud - it completely destroys my ability to enjoy the book for myself. So I don't think it's an endevour I'll invest any time in until I'm a bit further along.

Well, read children's books, like Dr. Seuss. That will lower the ruining level for you. Oh! You can also do like books on tape and such. That will help. :) But your voice is best, of course. I'm sure you know these things, why do I tell you things you probably know?
