Leif has been nursing for the past five hours or so, with only quick breaks here and there. I'm slightly worried about whether I'm producing enough milk.

I think he may finally be going to sleep.

As far as babies go, he's really pretty easy. He sleeps well. He doesn't have inconsolable crying fits. I can't imagine how life would be if he were more difficult. As it is, it's a struggle to get any housework done or get out of the house before [livejournal.com profile] koyote gets home from work. But other moms manage it, so I suppose I'll figure it out eventually.

Ravenous boy seems to have decided that he is STILL hungry. This can't be right.

With my youngest, he nursed so constantly, I literally got a bladder infection because I couldn't get him off me long enough to get to the bathroom frequently. Don't be afraid to use the occasional supplemental feeding (if you totally object to formula, you can pump your breasts - but get a good pump - you can often rent them from La Leche league) - Leif will still prefer you to a bottle. As for the housework -
Dishes and dusting can wait till tomorrow
For babies grow up, we've learned to our sorrow
So settle down dishes, dust go to sleep
I'm rocking my baby, and babies don't keep.

Can't remember the author to that, but it's the best advice I can think of for any new mother - or new father.
