Leif has been nursing for the past five hours or so, with only quick breaks here and there. I'm slightly worried about whether I'm producing enough milk.

I think he may finally be going to sleep.

As far as babies go, he's really pretty easy. He sleeps well. He doesn't have inconsolable crying fits. I can't imagine how life would be if he were more difficult. As it is, it's a struggle to get any housework done or get out of the house before koyote gets home from work. But other moms manage it, so I suppose I'll figure it out eventually.

Ravenous boy seems to have decided that he is STILL hungry. This can't be right.

And the fantastic, unbelievable "other moms?" Nope. If they exist, I and other moms have never run across 'em.

I did mention a while back that the first six weeks, at least, you would find yourself in that "Where did the day go?" position. Don't fret, don't sweat it. Get all the reading done that you need, and get the fiddly bits out of the way when you have a few moments.

If he's gaining weight, you have enough milk. As he gets bigger, he'll be able to get more milk out of you... the constant feeding now is increasing your milk supply for the future.

With my youngest, he nursed so constantly, I literally got a bladder infection because I couldn't get him off me long enough to get to the bathroom frequently. Don't be afraid to use the occasional supplemental feeding (if you totally object to formula, you can pump your breasts - but get a good pump - you can often rent them from La Leche league) - Leif will still prefer you to a bottle. As for the housework -
Dishes and dusting can wait till tomorrow
For babies grow up, we've learned to our sorrow
So settle down dishes, dust go to sleep
I'm rocking my baby, and babies don't keep.

Can't remember the author to that, but it's the best advice I can think of for any new mother - or new father.
