I've now seen two people on my friends list mention trick-or-treating last night (Thursday). Is this some regional thing? I've occasionally heard of cities moving Halloween festivities to Friday or Saturday so they won't be on a school night, but beyond that, I've never heard of going door to door on a day other than Halloween!

Someone else -- [livejournal.com profile] werellama? -- had trick-or-treaters last week, because around where she lives, communities plan specific times kids are allowed to trick-or-treat. For some, it was last weekend. For some, it was this afternoon, ending at six. (Makes a lot of sense for kids with two day-job parents, or in one-parent households, eh?) I guess it's to distribute the potential for trouble around a few days, diluting it, or perhaps it's to keep kids off the street after dark. I think it's ridiculous.

Well, according to [livejournal.com profile] mayna, Columbus, OH used to throw a big party every Halloween, so they moved trick or treating till the day before Halloween so people wouldn't have to choose between them.
