Apr. 16th, 2005 06:31 pmWhile trying to find a better laundromat online (the one closest to us is pretty awful), I stumbled across the Davis Wiki. I swear, I've learned more about Davis in a few days of reading through this thing than I did during my previous five years of living here, including the location of really cheap sushi ($3.00 for 18 big pieces. We haven't died of food poisoning yet), and the fact that there appears to be a genuine discordian Illuminati taking over the student goverment at UCD.
It half makes me wish I was still a student. I think I've spent more time reading about student government in the past day than I have in the rest of my life combined, including the time I unsuccessfully ran for class secretary in sixth grade.

Date: 2005-04-17 04:40 am (UTC)I have a few big things holding me back:
1. I've done the work/school thing. I don't want to spread myself that thin with family. If we can get to the point where my full-time income is not necessary, it would be a better option.
2. I need to find a major that a. I am interested in and b. where I don't have to essentially start as a freshman or sophmore because I don't like the whole school thing enough to basically start over because I haven't taken the right classes.
3. For that matter, I'm just not that great at the whole school thing :)
That said, I do intend to go back eventually (though possibly/probably not Davis), as a personal thing, because I'd like to have a higher level of education before Leif reaches school age, and because we're in the bizarre, possibly even unique position of having debt that will be reduced or eliminated if I go back to school.
