Dec. 16th, 2006 06:53 pmWe did the pre-holiday toy cleanout today. Leif very happily went through his toy drawer and put all the toys he didn't want in a box to give away. In fact, he wanted to get rid of more than I was comfortable with, and might have got rid of almost everything if I hadn't held some stuff back - I'm not sure he entirely understands that he's not getting them back, though I'm probably underestimating him. It's not like he really plays with them all that much.
Yesterday we packed up his old broken crayons (to be made into a big melty lump crayon sometime in the near future), and then gave him a new pack (as he draws too much to wait for an official present-giving time to give it to him). I think this helped - he saw that he got rid of old stuff and got something new in it's place.
Or maybe he just honestly wanted to get rid of them.
Last night he looked around and said "Let's clean up the room!", then jumped down and started cleaning up, singing "Clean up, clean up, everybody everywhere!"
And so we did.
