Parents who leave their 3 year old kid sitting in a lake while they sit up at the picnic table a ways away, forcing me to go in fully clothed to retrieve said kid, who is attempting to swim out to the float in the middle of the lake suck too. (She probably would have made it - she was wearing floaties. But since she was relying on floaties, I wasn't really comfortable with it either)
The lake itself is nice enough, though.

(my point of view tends to be a bit looser than my wife, yes. But I'm also confident that I can maintain attention for long enough for the child to finish the swim AND confident that if there was a problem that I could cover 50 yards of land and 10-14 yards of water really fast. (and anyway, it's mostly wading depth for an adult in the lagoony inlet thing. ))
Yes, the parents were couch potatoing a bit. And Jess' isn't as comfortable being lifeguard as I am. Pregnant woman having to run 50 yards and dive into water == much different.
