Carsickness sucks.

Parents who leave their 3 year old kid sitting in a lake while they sit up at the picnic table a ways away, forcing me to go in fully clothed to retrieve said kid, who is attempting to swim out to the float in the middle of the lake suck too. (She probably would have made it - she was wearing floaties. But since she was relying on floaties, I wasn't really comfortable with it either)

The lake itself is nice enough, though.

oh my god, that's scary. Isn't it just common sense not to leave small children alone near water??sounds like a Darwin Award waiting to happen...

I was sort of pissed with that family's behavior for other reasons. Seemed to me like the girl was the smarter one in the group. She was pretty self-possessed, and stubborn in a "strong girl who's going to piss off a lot of grownups someday" kind of way. I liked her.

Well, she wasn't alone. I was there. And obviously, as a fully-dressed person in charge of my own toddler, I'm prepared to play lifeguard to everyone else's kids.

I agree with silkensteel - she seemed like a great kid. It's just too bad about the adults :(
