Oct. 17th, 2006 08:08 pmI Freecycled a bunch of 0-6 month baby clothing today. It's hard letting go, even though I've kept more girl/neutral clothing than we're likely to use.
I don't want to store clothing for both sexes in every possible size for every season just in case we need them at some point, but part of me still worries that we'll end up not having what we need when we need it.
I put them up on Freecycle in three bags - one girl, one boy, and one neutral. So far, four people have expressed interest in the boy clothing (and it's been picked up), but none in the girl and neutral. Makes me wonder if the thing about more boys being born during wartime is true (my doula experience seems to support this, but my due date community actually has more girls than boys (37/33, with a few surprises that haven't been born/updated yet).
I should throw some more stuff in the girl bag. Her clothing drawer is still hard to open, it's so full. But the remaining stuff is all cute and decent fabrics and stuff and there's no reason she won't wear it beyond sheer quantity.
Leif has adopted one of Astrid's blankies (it's ok. She has several to spare, and we only kept one special one of his). It's yellow. He gleefully named it Mac&Cheese.

Date: 2006-10-18 03:17 am (UTC)errr... you've got that backwards... all of the scientific studies show that more GIRLS are born in times of societal and personal stress:

I could find more, but the only thing I've ever seen regarding creating more boys was more about survival rate of boys, not wartime.
