I hear they're only dangerous if you tick them off... like laying down on them, burying them in the comforter, attempting to crush them with a pile of laundry, etc.

Someone came across one of those buggers up here a few months ago in a box of grapes from Costco. Needless to say, black widows are the last thing you expect to see in western Washington. I think the zoo finally took it.

augh! i assume that the calm way you report this means you were able to safely rid the house of the spider?

i mean, i quiver at the notion of spiders on my bed, but the idea of a black widow in particular...augh.
