Leif figured out how to read last week. Something clicked, and he figured out how to sound things out and put them together.

I'm suddenly very aware of all the weird little rules of English.

I'm also suddenly very aware that within a few months, he'll be capable of reading over my shoulder.

Being able to read was our condition for him getting his own library card, so he got one today, and is just about thrilled to death.

I've been very into making pudding lately. savia posted a recipe the other day. Upon making it, I realized that it's ridiculously fun to make in the same way as my favorite frosting recipe. I've made chocolate, pumpkin, and vanilla, with varying degrees of actual pudding-ness.

I have clinicals this weekend, and then spring break. Yay!

Yay! I'm so glad you've been having fun with it. How'd you do the pumpkin?

I had about 2/3 cup of leftover pumpkin from some muffins I made earlier in the week, so I used that in place of some of the liquid, and added cinnamon and ginger. It didn't turn out as solid as I would have liked, but I have a feeling that was related to the amount of cornstarch (I've been modifying the recipe, so using semi-random measurements). It was tasty, though. I've been using diluted coconut milk as the base, and adding an egg or two.
