Things I need to remember about essays:

Getting something done is better than getting nothing done.
Getting it done is more important than worrying about whether or not I get the references right.
Getting it done is more important than whether my thesis is the stupidest thing anyone has ever heard.

I don't need to stress about these things. I just need to write the damn paper and get it over with. I'll get a better grade if I turn in a piece of utter crap than if I don't turn it in at all.

You know you have been in college too long when the realization hits you that anything is better than nothing and you have stopped caring. That happened my senior year, thank the lord, or I may never have graduated.

In my case, it's something I desperately needed to learn my freshman year. Not to stop caring, but to stop worrying myself to death over how awful I'm doing (which I'm usually not - it's just the first draft roughness that I can fix up later) and just get something written.

As long as you can walk the fine line between not worrying and not caring. For me it is a line in the truest geometric sense of the word. I am on one side or the other because it is only one dimension. It's so fun being type A...
