I ran into a guy I used to work with (and had a huge crush on) today in Borders. He was with his wife and child. This child and slashdot momentarily destroyed my life a few years back - he posted something about his soon-to-be-born baby, and it was the first indication I had that he was not single (had I been more observant, I probably would have noticed a wedding band, but I'm not, so I didn't). I got over it soon enough - if he was involved with someone and having a baby, his lack of interest in me was probably not anything personal :)

The kid is now two years and four months. It was really a reminder of how fast time passes, even when it seems to be creeping along. This was further reinforced by seeing the child of my first teacher at Sac City in the grocery store - when I was in her mom's class, she was either not yet born or newborn.

The wife of the guy I used to work with appears to be pregnant again. That's neat. I now know someone who will have a child essentially the same age as mine.

I didn't really feel the need to tell anyone (ok, that's a lie, I have been dying to tell Megan so we can go shopping for you, I just wanted to sound mature) But I have been good, I swear. the only person I told was my therapist because I wanted to discuss how surreal it is to have someone I went to kindergarten with at the baby point in her life. You know? But she is in central virginia and has never even met anyone on the west coast :)

Best not to do any shopping until mid-January or so - at that point it will be a lot less likely that anything will go wrong. I appreciate it though :)
