I just went geocaching! At 11:00PM! Yay!

We recently sold our old GPS (since we sold the visor that it went along with) and bought one that a friend was selling, which reminded me that geocaching existed. I was poking around on geocaching.com and discovered there was a moving cache in the parking lot a block away from our house.

Since it might move before morning, I decided to go find it right then and there.

Unfortunately, someone had already found it and moved it. The site just hadn't updated yet. Oh well. Finding the cache was kind of beside the point - I can't remember the last time I walked around alone at night, at least when it was warm enough to wear short sleeves.

We have a cat problem. We leave the door of the bedroom open so that we can hear Leif or he can come find us if he wakes up. This means the cats can come in. Jenna is currently curled up next to his head.

We tried to go to a meetup in Falls Church today, which ended up being a bust. For some reason, it was in this used bookstore, which was a great used bookstore, but a very poor place for people to meet, since it was jam packed with books. Not that we actually saw anyone who looked like they were doing anything other than buying books.

It was fun, though. They were having a half price sale (oooh, dangerous), and I stumbled across a book I've been looking for but couldn't find since I didn't know the title or author.

We also went to a rather creepy thrift shop. I was hoping to find some clothing for Leif, but there was nothing even halfway decent. Everything looked at least 20 years old. You'd think that thrift shops would be flooded with tons of decent baby clothing, since they grow out of it so fast, but they aren't. I guess the nice stuff gets ebayed or grabbed up right away.

The whole shop was creepy, though, not just the baby clothing section. I'm not sure what it was, but it wasn't helped by the salespeople suddenly shoving everyone out the door five minutes after we got there.

For my last birthday, my mom and stepdad gave me a gift certificate to an Indian restaurant. As luck would have it, it was just down the street from the bookstore, so we went there for dinner. Great food, but Leif was awful. Not really his fault - he hadn't had a good nap or eat in a while (he gets too distracted to nurse in public now unless he's very tired or very hungry). We ended up taking turns walking him around.

Then we went to Baskin Robbins, where he ate a whole banana. How the heck does a baby fit a whole banana in his stomach?

He slept the whole way home on the bus, and then I went geocaching.

Busy day. Well, once I got moving, anyways.

We decided to go shopping, with a stop for geocaching in downtown Sac. I didn't copy down the actual directions, since it looked from the map like the caches (there were two right close to eachother) were in an area I'm already familiar with. They weren't. We ended up walking in a big circle for about an hour before getting to the graveyard where they were located. We got there at about 5:30. The place closed at 4:30. Oh well. At least it was exercise, and we know where it is now so we can skip the huge walk next time.

On the way back, we stopped at an used bookstore, and picked up a bunch of books. This was not really intended, but being bookaholics, it is physically impossible for us to pass an used bookstore without stopping.

Next, found a goodwill store, as we're both in need of cheap-ish wool sweaters for hiking purposes. The Goodwill store on Arden Way is glassware heaven! There was an absolute ton of it. We grabbed a bunch of it (for candlemaking) and will probably return for more at some point. They also had a seemingly functional sewing machine for $35. Since we'd both been wanting one, we got it.

Then, Arden Fair Mall, where I fulfilled the office's Franklin Covey fetish by getting an organizer with a pocket for my visor. It was $30 off the regular price. Why is it that every time I go somewhere with [livejournal.com profile] koyote, I find exactly what I'm looking for at a much lower price than usual?

After that, dinner at some fish place. Yummy.

Now, jacuzzi in the rain, and then sleep :)

It's been a pretty nice weekend.

Yesterday, we went to a bike swap meet thing. [livejournal.com profile] koyote got a bike, oldish but good, for $100.

In the evening, we went to Dave & Buster's in Milipitas for a friend's birthday party. I've been to D&B (the one in Bethesda, MD) once before. It had been pretty uncrowded, without a whole lot going on. This one, however, was a complete madhouse. Way crowded, plus they had this big old noisy game room in the back. Overwhelming, really. I don't do well with crowds/lots of noise/flashing lights.

Despite everything, I think we all ended up having a good time. I did, anyways.

Today we got the bikes fixed up, and rode out to the nature preserve about 2 miles from my house to do some geocaching. (basically, GPS treasure hunting). Actually, we'd gone after work on Friday, but the area closes at sundown, and they kicked us out just after we got to the right spot. I'm glad we had to go back - it was much more scenic during the day. I like wetland type areas like that a lot.

Since we already knew the general area where we were supposed to be, and it wasn't one of the more difficult ones, we found the cache pretty fast.

Came home and fixed dinner - chicken stovetop stuffing stuff from a mix, except I added sausage and raisins, and salad. Cooking is not my forte (though it turned out decently enough).

Cleaned up the apartment a little, did laundry, and then realized that I have six or so chapters of math due tomorrow, on top of a take home test.

I'm not sure about this whole school thing. Can I take another 5 or so years of this? If I got into some decent study habits, it would probably be ok,
but that's never been my strong point.

Perhaps I should just give in and go back full time for a while. Or give up on the bachelor's degree idea, and just go for one of the certificate programs or an associates degree. I could probably do that in a year or so, since I'd be able to stop all this idiotic math and just do the basic requirements, maybe of which I've already done.

But going back full time for a year or two seems like the smarter of the two options.

I'd love to be able to go to sleep now, but I don't get to. Damn math.
