I suppose that if I have to carry this thing around everywhere, I may as well use it.
The problem - we have planners, and we have PDAs/computers. PDAs and computers sync well as it is, but I know I'm going to have a hard enough time keeping records in one place, let alone two. Problem 2 - we may soon want to integrate non-Mac users into the calendaring portion of things (and I'm not sure we'll want to keep renewing .mac endlessly). Switching to gCalendar would make this relatively easy, but can all of this sync all together?
The easiest option at this point for syncing the paper/electronic stuff is to print out calendar pages every so often rather than using the included ones (they're standard half page, we have a hole punch, it works). That way I don't have to try to write in all the regularly reoccuring stuff, just new things that come up.
The other easiest option is to just give up the electronic part, but that means a lot of communication and repetitive filling in records.

Jul. 8th, 2006 10:33 amI really like the blackberry. Part of it is just finally having a phone with a working address book. Our old phones (Nokia 9290s, I think) which we got in late 2004 were these big old 80's style bricks, which was ok, since they had good PDA functionality. Except that the OS wasn't that great to begin with, and the PDA functionality broke on my phone within a few months of purchase (the joys of having a toddler...). And everything except for basic phone functionality, including the phone book, was part of the PDA.
I was a little hesitant about getting another PDA phone, but the blackberries are known to be pretty sturdy and don't have moving parts, so hopefully it will hold up for a while, especially if I get a decent case really soon.
I'm happy. It does enough of what my Palm does (ebook reading! Yay!) that I can stop carrying it around. One less thing taking up space in my bag, one less thing to potentially be lost or stolen.
OMG. Someone on my flist just mentioned having a smoothie with lavendar/vanilla ice cream in it. I WANT DESPERATELY! And I have no clue how to go about doing so. I suppose there's something lavendar flavored at the co-op which could be used.
I finally finished Quicksilver last night, only three years after I started it! It's the ideal ebook - you can read it without having to carry around a huge tome for months.
I am getting very irritated with my clothing situation. Most of my shirts that used to look ok don't fit over my belly anymore, so I'm down to one t-shirt that isn't a tent, a few that are tents, and some similarly tent-like men's button down shirts. Must really try to make clothes shopping a priority soon.
koyote says I should just let my belly stick out. Yeah right. I don't care if *he* likes seeing my skin - the rest of the world does not need to.

May. 11th, 2006 04:12 pmI see a new meme going around:
Comments are screened. If you've ever had a smidge of a crush on me, feel free to comment below. I won't mock you, and only you and I will ever know. Then post this in your own LJ and see who might be crushing on you.
Frankly, there are too many people out there who I just don't want to know about to justify possibly satisfying idle curiosity about a few :)
Hmmm....could turn on anonymous commenting instead of screening replies... that would give the ego boost without quite the potential creepy factor.
I doubt I'll respond to anyone else's. Either you're already aware I have/had a crush on you, or there's a reason I haven't told you previously that still applies.
Sleepy sleepy sleepy. Need to remember how to sleep at night, rather than coming up with ideas that seem brilliant in the middle of the night and idiotic once the sun comes up.
As I referred to previously, Leif woke up the other morning suddenly knowing how to use a computer. This isn't all that odd for a kid his age, except that, for all that we're geeks and all, he's never really had a computer of his own. He's watched movies on a computer, and "played games" (meaning he watched and occasionally pointed while one of us manuevered the mouse) for 20 minutes every week or two on the library computers, but he's never really interacted with them himself.
Now he plays the Blue's Clues game all on his own, and just started the Madeleine game, also all on his own, so somehow he's discovered how to double click. I thought he'd done it by accident, but he threw a fit when I tried to start Blue's Clues again instead, and was very insistent that Madeleine was the one he wanted (though it held his interest all of two minutes).
Hmm. Something smells like burning. I hope they aren't trying to burn down the complex again like they did the other day. Well, a storage shed anyways.

May. 9th, 2006 04:31 pmThese mood swings are getting really old. It just doesn't help knowing that tomorrow I'll probably be excessively happy again for at least part of the day.
I'll admit that it does help knowing that Leif hasn't had a nap today, so he'll probably pass out early tonight.
He's playing a Blue's Clue's game right now. He sat down at a computer at the library today and suddenly grokked the mouse. It was slightly freaky.
Now
koyote is home, which is somewhat more happy-making.
Up down up down up down making me dizzy.

Nov. 10th, 2005 12:01 pmYay, the new version of LiveWidget fixes the brokenness. Now it works again!
This is basically a test post to make sure it's really truly working.
Leif just shared my espresso with me (ETA: I realized how bad this sounds. By "shared", I mean he had a few tiny sips, not that he drank half of it). Then he passed out, even though it's several hours earlier than he usually goes down for a nap. No clue if the two are related, but coffee always made me sleepy when I was a kid. It's not like he had that much, though. Just a few little sips.
Actually, now that I think about it, a nap at this time isn't all that unusual on days when he doesn't have an activity in the morning.
It's good that he's napping now, though. Means we can go out and do something this afternoon. We need to get to the store, but after that I may take us for a nice long bike ride. We haven't been doing more than short, necessary trips lately because of the weather, and I'm feeling like I'm not getting enough exercise.
